Developer Stories 🎙️
The story of Kanishk Tiwari is a source of inspiration as he managed to achieve great success despite starting his coding journey relatively late in college. In this podcast, you can learn about his experience of securing an excellent job placement at Avalara and subsequently making a successful transition to working at Amazon.
Summary:
Kanishk describes his journey of exploring different career paths before finally settling on software engineering. He started with graphic designing, then moved on to CAT (Common Admission Test), but eventually found that coding was a better fit for him.
After landing a job at Avalara, he continued to prepare and eventually received job offers from several big companies, including Flipkart, Paytm, Swiggy, Visa, Goldman Sachs, and Amazon. He chose to join Amazon and is currently working on the Amazon Pay team.
Kanishk mainly codes in Python and follows channels like "need code" and "Tech dose." He also solves random questions from various websites to track his progress. DSA is not much incorporated into their current job as they mostly have to work with pre-built libraries, packages, or best practices of their organisation.
When it comes to hiring, companies look for good DSA skills, internships, projects, coding profiles, achievements, and broader knowledge. The speaker does not think a master's degree is necessary to get into big companies, as many people without a degree are working at such companies. The market is accepting of new talent, and the degree is not mandatory if the candidate has enough knowledge to do the job.
Thanks for reading.
